Dear LCRP Chimpanzee Champions and Lovely Supporters,
As always we first thank you for your generous support! You are there when we need you and it shows in the transformations we see each day in the lives of our chimpanzee family and the care we are able to provide!
We are busier than ever here in Liberia! The new year has brought with it many new adventures.
Our work raising awareness, working with local communities, and helping Liberia
protect her wildlife and wild spaces, fills us with joy.
Unfortunately, with this come reports of more individuals needing rescue.
While we love our new family members, we wish they never had to meet us at all.
And their addition means more support is needed.

MEET EDDY & KWA - OUR 2024 ARRIVALS
NEW ARRIVALS MEAN MORE MOUTHS TO FEED AND MORE SURROGATE MOMS TO CARE FOR
THESE SWEET BABIES! EDDY AND KWA DESPERATELY NEED YOUR SUPPORT
THESE SWEET BABIES! EDDY AND KWA DESPERATELY NEED YOUR SUPPORT
FROM HORRORS TO HAPPINESS - THE JOURNEY IS LONG & DIFFICULT
BUT WITH YOUR HELP WE ARE SAVING LIVES
Each only months old, Eddy and Kwa were torn from their mothers, and being sold on the black market.
Baby chimpanzees are sold as pets - dressed up like human children but not treated like them.
They are left behind on 'family' outings, kept in cages or boxes, and left to cry and scream for their mothers.
Once a few months older and more mobile, they are chained or tied up and often put outside in the yard.
In the wild, Eddy and Kwa would be attached to their mothers at all times.
Wild baby chimps DON'T CRY as they get what they need whenever they need it.
We work very hard to replicate this as soon as they are in our arms.

As we make progress in our efforts to protect chimpanzees in Liberia, working hand in hand with communities, law enforcement, park protectors, and local chimp heroes, we know we will receive more rescued chimpanzees. Until we can fully stop the killing of chimpanzees in the wild, more babies in need will arrive into LCRP's care.
The challenges are great, there is so much more to do!
But with each rescue comes new hope that things are changing for chimpanzees.
And with each new hope comes TRANSFORMATION!
As many of you know, we spend over $1,200 per day (over $35,000 per month, $450,000 per year)
to rescue, house, feed, and provide 24-hour care to the chimps!
Eddy and Kwa's arrival means many more cans of baby cereal, more fruit and vegetables
and, of course, more caregivers. Salaries to run the sanctuary total $15,000 per month.
