Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection
Dear LCRP Chimpanzee Champions and Lovely Supporters,
First and foremost, we hope this message finds you, and your family and friends, safe and healthy during this challenging time. We are sending out love to all of you from Liberia. We know many of you are wondering how LCRP is coping with COVID19. Our stringent health and hygiene protocols prove their worth at a time like this, as do Jimmy’s years of experience in emerging disease. As a great ape veterinarian, he leads LCRP’s effort to ensure we’re doing everything we can to keep the chimps and our team safe. While the impact COVID19 might have on the chimpanzees is uncertain, we have to assume it is a danger to the entire LCRP family, as we know chimps are particularly susceptible to respiratory illnesses. We’re prepared for any treatment that might be required. We are happy to answer any specific questions through our contact form on our website! LCRP'S NEW HOME!
On a much happier note, we are THRILLED to share with you some BIG NEWS! As some of you may have seen on our social media, we have BROKEN GROUND on the new Sanctuary and Conservation Center. In the first phase, THANKS TO ALL OF YOU, we will be building the chimps’ indoor night dormitory, nursery, food storage and preparation, office block, workshop and a small bungalow for us to live on site!
Everything is built adjacent to our Hundred Acre Wood so the chimps, along with their caregivers, will simply wake up, have breakfast and make their way to the forest for the day!
IT IS ALL SO EXCITING!
Jimmy with County Commissioner John Lloyd at the start of our new road Bouchard Boulevard in honor of the wonderful Bouchard Family!
Putting up the first panels on our beautiful Night Dormitory where the older chimps will sleep and where individuals who can't go to the forest yet will have plenty of space, light and security! Making rapid progress on the chimpanzees' gorgeous Night Dorm! WE JUST CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH! As we continue to make progress here in Liberia we never forget our global family making it all possible. Thank you from the bottom (and top) of our hearts for being a part of the journey and for making the world a better place.
