We've continued to expand our reach and increasing our impact to protect chimpanzees and safeguard their habitat. We are thrilled to be doing more for chimpanzees. But with growth comes an immediate challenge: the strain on our daily operations and sanctuary wellbeing.
On average we receive one new chimpanzee orphan each month
requiring urgent care and lifetime support.
Beyond the basic needs of food, housing, and veterinary care, these newcomers demand
around-the-clock nurturing from surrogate human mothers, requiring over thirty dedicated
caregivers, as we make every effort to maintain a one-to-one ratio for little ones
and new additions. At the same time, our existing chimpanzee family is
growing, demanding more food, space, and care.
We're calling on you to help support our daily operations!

BY THE NUMBERS...
Current donations are covering only 35% of our monthly costs.
LCRP is now the permanent home to over 100 orphaned chimpanzees. It costs over $1,200 USD per day to rescue,
house, feed and provide 24-hour care for the chimpanzees. That's $37,000 per month or $450,000 per year! in the last six months, we have received 8 new chimpanzee orphans.
Baby chimpanzees arriving at LCRP require 24- hour nurturing from surrogate human mothers. It takes over 30 human caregivers to meet the needs of the chimpanzees at the sanctuary and we work hard to maintain a 1:1 ratio for young and new arrivals.
Our current chimpanzee residents are getting bigger and require additional food, space and care.
Veterinary care for the chimpanzees costs thousands of dollars per year.

The chimpanzees require nearly 25 TONS of fruit and veggies each month! Our team makes three trips per week, through the country to source diverse and nutritious food - food for the chimps is $6,000 per month.
We purchase over 500 cans of baby cereal per month to provide essential vitamins, minerals and to fortify the chimps' diets.
Our most important resource is our amazing team, without whom we wouldn't be able to survive. Salaries for our team total $15,000 USD per month. The team consists of caregivers, drivers, mechanics, security, maintenance, cleaners, and more. |
