Sweet Pea
Sweet Pea lives up to her name – she is a very sweet and loving little girl with a lovely face and quiet manner. Although a bit shy, Sweet Pea adores playing and laughing with her caregivers.
Sweet Pea and Guey were confiscated at about the same time and spent some time at a temporary rescue centre before coming to LCR. When first meeting her, LCR’s managers noted that she did not know how to be held, picked up, or even how to play. She and Guey rarely interacted and she spent a lot of time doing stereotypical rocking in the corner.
Today it is hard to recognize that shy little girl she once was. Unlike her group mate Guey, who never stops moving, Sweet Pea is happy to simply sit on a lap, climb up on the platforms and enjoy the view, or relax while slowly enjoying her food. When Sweet Pea first arrived, she was shy to the point of avoiding everyone who came into her enclosure. However, after a short time under 24/7 care, she bloomed into a beautiful and cheerful chimpanzee. Sweet Pea’s dark face gives her a very unique and gorgeous look!
Sweet Pea's favorite food is fresh ripe Papaya!
